Set in the word of Quincy's Tavern, this is a strategy card game where you place cards from your hand to complete patterns as you compete to place all player tokens first.

Players set up for the game by selecting one of four factions (The Gryphon Watch, The Phoenix Menage, The Dragon Synod or They Kitsune Conclave) and taking all of the related tokens, seals, and player mat. Next the cross-roads tile is placed in the middle of the play area in front of all players and becomes the game board. Five cards are then dealt to everyone and the remainder of the cards are set to the side with four more cards being drawn and laid face up for all to see.

A turn consists of four actions. Action one, is playing two cards from your hand off of the cross roads tile. You can place a card over a matching tile or over a tile it is superior too (Gryphons cover Phoenixes, Phoenixes cover Dragons, Dragons cover Kitsune, and Kitsune cover Gryohons similarly rock-paper-scissors). Action two, check to see if you have created a spirit guardian pattern that matches a pattern on your player mat. If you have, you place one of your faction tokens on any tile in that pattern thus claiming it. Action three, place your seal tokens on the board. This seal depending on which side you place face up will change a tile it is placed on to the face of the seal you placed on it. Lastly you replenish your hand by taking two more cards either from the cards that are face up or from the deck.

Each player takes their turn completing all four actions in clockwise order until there is a winner. The game is won when a player has placed all faction tokens on the game board.
